The boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Central Invitational on Saturday.
On the boys side, Ethan Pratt-Perez was the overall winner and finished the 3 mile course in a time of 15:15 (5:05 pace) The boys team placed fifth out of 16 teams.
The girls team won with a total of 34 points and were 68 points ahead of the second place team. Kate Konyar, with a time of 17:57 (5:59 pace) was second overall and we placed seven girls in the top 25.
The girls team placed 3rd overall. Kate Konyar was the top finisher in 2nd place with a 5k time of 19:21.
The boys team placed 29th overall. Ethan Pratt-Perez was the top finisher in 6th place with a 5k time of 16:10.
The girls and boys cross country teams competed at the Judges Classic on Saturday. The girls varsity won the overall title beating out 23 other teams. Kate Konyar was the top runner, placing third overall with a time of 19:15.
The boys team placed 10th overall and were the top local team. Ethan Pratt-Perez was second overall, missing the win by only one second, and covering the 5k distance in 15:51.
The boys and girls cross country teams competed on Saturday at the Third Battle Invitational. The boys finished 21st out of 42 teams with Ethan Pratt-Perez finishing second overall. His time of 15:09 for 5k (4:53 per mile) is a new school record
The girls team finished 3rd overall and Kate Konyar also ran for a new school record covering the 5k distance in 18:12. She finished 5th.
The boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Region 4D Championships.
Ethan Pratt-Perez won the race and is the Region 4D Champion. The boys team placed 4th overall - one place away from qualifying for the state meet. Eli Clark was 11th overall and earned All-Region honors. Both Ethan and Eli advance to next weekend's state meet.
The girls team placed second overall - missing first place by only 5 points. Kate Konyar was the top finisher in 3rd place. Ruby Ostrander (5th) Alina Kieffer (6th) and Katelyn Palmer (11th) join Kate in receiving All-Region honors. The girls team advances to the state meet next Saturday.
The girls and boys cross country teams competed on Saturday at the VHSL 4A State Championship.
The girls placed 4th overall, tying the best finish in school history. Kate Konyar (5th place) and Ruby Ostrander (15th place) earned All-State honors.
Two individual runners qualified from the boys' team. Ethan Pratt-Perez finished second overall with a time of 15:48, which is the highest individual finish in school history since 1997.
Eli Clark finished 30th with a time of 17:11.

Congratulations to the girls’ and boys’ cross country teams on capturing both of the Northwestern District team championships on Saturday. It was the 4th straight district title for the boys, and the first for the girls since 2002. Nathaniel Woshner placed 2nd to lead the boys, while Lauren Beatty placed 3rd to lead the girls. Also earning All-District were Ethan Pratt-Perez, Liam McDonald, Jacob Oliver, Izzy Newman, Elena Farinholt, Ruby Ostrander, and Jocelyn Kluge. Both teams advance to the Region 4C Championship on November 2.

The James Wood cross country teams competed Saturday at the Third Battle Invitational in their final regular-season races.
The boys' team came away with a third place finish out of 39 teams while placing 3 runners in the top 12: Liam McDonald 12th in 16:09, Ethan Pratt-Perez 10th in 16:03, and Nathaniel Woshner 5th in 15:54.
The girls' team placed 5th overall out of 39 teams with Lauren Beatty being the top finisher for Wood in 9th place with a time of 18:47.
The girls' underclassmen JV team placed second, missing out on first place by only 6 points.
The teams will compete in the Northwestern District Championships on Saturday, October 23 at the 3rd Winchester Battlefield. The girls' race starts at 10:00 and boys will race at 10:30.

The boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Oatlands Invitational on Saturday in Leesburg. The boys team placed second overall out of 54 teams. They were led by senior Nathaniel Woshner, who was 6th overall, and covered the 5k distance in a time of 16:29. Sophomore Ethan Pratt-Perez placed 9th. The girls team placed 4th overall, narrowly missing 3rd place by one point. They were led by Lauren Beatty, who was 18th overall in a time of 19:56. The Colonels were further supported by an excellent performance by the girls varsity B team who placed second in their division.
The teams will host Kettle Run and Clarke County on Wednesday at 5:00 PM.

The boys' and girls' cross country teams competed in the 18-team Central Invitational on Saturday in Woodstock, VA. The boys team placed first, led by senior Nathaniel Woshner who was the overall winner of the race in 15:59 for the 3-mile course. Sophomore Ethan Pratt-Perez was 3rd overall, senior Liam McDonald was 5th, and junior Jacob Oliver was 9th. The girls' team placed second, missing first by just one point. They were led by senior Lauren Beatty who was second overall and covered the 3 mile distance in 18:42. Seniors Isabella Newman and Elena Farinholt placed 9th and 12th, respectively.
The teams compete in the Brunswick, MD Invitational next Saturday.

Directions to Brunswick Invitational at Brunswick HS, MD from JWHS via VA-7 to US-340 N (55min , 41.8mi).
Take 37N to I-81S, then take Rt. 7 exit and turn left towards Berryville (Rt. 7 East). Take Rt. 7 9 miles to the Rt. 340 exit. Take a left onto Rt. 340 North towards Charles Town for about 12.85 miles. Merge onto 340 N towards Harpers Ferry and continue for 12 miles. Merge onto Burkittsville Rd/MD-17 S toward Brunswick/Park & Ride for .25 mile, enter the next roundabout and take the 2nd exit onto Burkittsville Rd/MD-17. Pass through 2 roundabouts, then continue 1.11 miles. Stay straight to go onto Souder Rd/MD-464, then continue 1.02 miles. Stay straight to go onto Cummings Drive and the high school is on the left.
