Congratulations to the boys & girls team that participated at the Class 4 State meet at Liberty University. Both of the girls and boys team placed 20th overall in the states meet out of 38 teams. It has been a great season overall for the teams. We had great success for all the events throughout the season.
Girls
The girls 4x800m team Quetzali Angel-Perez, Lillian Lovelace, Ruby Ostrander, Lauren Beatty placed 6th overall with their best time of the season of 9:55.54. Aubrey Grove placed 3rd overall in Discus 112-4 feet to medal, and then placed 9th in the shot put throwing 31-05.50. Lauren Beatty placed 23rd in the 1600 meter run. The girls 4x100m team which includes Alana Bradford, Olivia Boyce, Macey Payne, and Jocelyn Hempel placed 15th with a time of :52.19.

Congratulations to the boys & girls that participated at the Region 4C Track & Field Championships at Lightridge High School. The boys were placed 5th overall while the girls placed 8th overall . The team had great performances throughout the meet and 13 athletes are advancing to the state meet at Liberty University on June 3 and 4.
Girls
Alana Bradford placed 9th in the 100 meter run with a time of 13.43. Ella Kiesewalter placed 7th in her 400 meter run with a time of 1:02.71. Lauren Beatty placed 6th in her 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.73. Quetzali-Angel-Perez placed 7th in her 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.50 which will her best performance for the season. Elena Farinholt placed 9th in her 1600 meter run. Lillian Lovelace placed 7th in her 300 meter hurdles run with a time of 50.98. The 4x1 rely team that includes Alana Bradford, Olivia Boyce, Mayce Payne, Jocelyn Hempel placed 3rd with a time of 51.42 which is their best performance for the season and will be advancing to the state meet. The girls 4x8 team that includes Quetzali-Angel-Perez, Lauren Beatty, Ruby Ostrander and Lillian Lovelace placed 1st with a time of 9:56.85 which it is their best performance for the season and will be advancing to the state meet. Jocelyn Hempel placed 5th in her triple jump event with 33-10.75 feet. Olivia Boyce placed 8th in her triple jump event with 32-11.50 feet which will be her best performance for the season. Aubrey Grove placed 5th in discus with a 107-04.50 feet and also will be advancing to the state meet. Abigail Hendershot placed 7th in discus with a 96-05.00 feet which will be her best performance for the season. Aubrey Grove placed 4th in shot put with a 33-03.00 feet which will be her best performance for the season and will be participating in this event at the state meet as well. Abigail Hendershot Placed 8th in shot put with a 31-02.00 feet.

Both the Girls and Boys Team placed second overall in the Northwestern District Championships. The girls had 139 total points and the boys had 119 total points. We also had many personal records set today!
The following girls will be advancing to Regionals after placing within the top eight in today's District Championships. Olivia Boyce placed 3rd (15-0.50) and Alana Bradford placed 5th (14-7.50) in the Long Jump. Jocelyn Hempel placed 2nd (32-1.50) and Olivia Boyce placed 4th (30-10.50) in the Triple Jump. Aubrey Grove placed 3rd (111-10) and Abby Hendershot placed 7th (89-0.50) in Discus. Aubrey Grove placed 3rd (31-6) and Abby Hendershop placed 5th (30-3) in Shot Put. Lillian Lovelace placed 2nd with a personal record of 17.70 in the 100m hurdles. Also Kallie Gyurisin placed 6th (19.63) and Becky Logan placed 7th with a personal record of 30.79 in the 100m hurdles. Macey Payne placed 6th in the 100m dash with a personal record of 13.33 as well as Alana Bradford placing 8th (13.48). Lauren Beatty placed 2nd (5:16:56), Ruby Ostrander placed 5th (5:40.45), Elena Farinholt place 6th (5:42.48) and Jocelyn Kluge placed 7th with a personal record of 5:43.10 in the 1600m run. Ella Kiesewalter placed 3rd with a personal record of 1:02.56 in the 400m dash as well as Omaie Aarami placing 7th with a personal record of 1:05.78. Lillian Lovelace placed 2nd in the 300m hurdles with a personal record of 50.09 as well as Kallie Gyurisin placing 5th with a personal record of 54.42. Questzali Angel-Perez placed 2nd in the 800m run with a personal record of 2:29.64 and Ruby Ostrander placed 8th (2:35:55). Olivia Boyce placed 6th in the 200m dash with a personal record of 28.27 and Macey Payne placed 7th (28.31). Lauren Beatty placed 2nd (11:57.58), Hallie Lescalleet placed 6th with a personal record of 12:36.06 and Elena Farinholt (12:42.74) placed 7th in the 3200m run.
The 4x800 girls relay team placed 4th with 11:59:56 (Katie Kuehl, Grace Newman, Kim Saupp, Emma Woshner). The 4x100 girls relay team placed 3rd with 51.87 (Jocelyn Hempel, Olivia Boyce, Macey Payne, Alana Bradford). The 4x400 girls relay team placed 3rd with 4:30:87 (Ella Kiesewalter, Lillian Lovelace, Kameron Strosnider, Jocelyn Hempel).
The following boys will be advancing to Regionals after placing within the top eight in today's District Championships. Brendan Cassidy placed 8th (5-4) in the high jump. Karim Cisse placed 5th (18-4) and Ryan Babington placed 7th (17-7.75) in the Long Jump. Nolan Cornwell placed 5th (36-4.50) in the Triple Jump. Andrew Link placed 1st in both the 110m hurdles with a personal record of 15.69 and the 300m hurdles (40.64) listing him in the state top 50. Brendan Cassidy placed 2nd in the 110m hurdles (15.71) listing him in the state top 50 and Casey Floyd placed 7th (18.94). Nathaniel Woshner (2nd,4:20.24) set a personal record, State qualified and listed in the state top 25 in the 1600m run as well as Ethan Pratt-Perez (4th,4:23.90), and Liam McDonald (5th,4:24.28) both set personal records, State qualified and listed in the state top 50. Brendan Cassidy placed 2nd (51.80) and Landon Burdock placed 8th with a personal record of 54.63 in the 400m dash. Casey Floyd placed 3rd in the 300m hurdles with a personal record of 44.39 and Logan McKay placed 4th (44.52). Liam McDonald placed 3rd in the 800m run with a personal record of 1:58.68 and listed in the state top 50. Zach Smith placed 8th in the 200m Dash with 24.38. Nathaniel Woshner placed 1st (9:50.82) and Ethan Pratt-Perez placed 2nd (9:52:24) in the 3200m run.
The boys 4x100m relay team placed 4th with 46.81 (Nolan Cornwell, Karim Cisse, Elijah Richards, Zach Smith). The boys 4x400 relay team placed 2nd with 3:36.16 (Andrew Link, Landon, Burdock, Williams Andrews, Brendan Cassidy).

The Girls Team had Aubrey Grove place 2nd in discus with 113-9, as well as MacKenzie Sine placing 7th with 85-5 qualifying her for Districts, and Ainsley Lescalleet placing 10th with 81-6. MacKenzie Sine also qualified for Districts and placed 5th in Shot Put with a personal record of 31-2 and Aubrey Grove placed 7th with 30-10.25, Elena Farinholt placed 7th with 5:30.88 in the 1600 meter run. Lauren Beatty had a personal record of 2:25.24 and placed 5th in the 800 meters.
The Boys Team had Nathaniel Woshner place 1st and qualified for states in the 1600 meter run with 4:27.90, followed by Ethan Pratt-Perez placing 2nd with a personal record of 4:29:64 and qualifying for Regionals, as well as Danilo Rincon setting a personal record of 4:56:61. Brendan Cassidy placed 7th in the High Jump with 5'4". Nathaniel Woshner also placed 5th in the boys 800 meters with a state-qualifying time of 1:59.45 and Liam McDonald placed 6th with a region-qualifying time of 2:00:07.
The track teams will compete in the district championships on Wednesday at Fauquier.

The Girls Track and Field team won first place against Kettle Run and Liberty with a total of 106 points. Our first place finishers were Alana Bradford (100m Dash, 13.41) as well as 2nd place in the long jump with 13-09.50, Kallie Gyurisin (100m hurdles, 18.98), Lillian Lovelace (300m hurdles, 51.42), Omaie Aarami (400m Dash, 1:06.81), Jocelyn Kluge (1600m run, 5:44.76), Aubrey Grove (Girls Discus, 116-06), Olivia Boyce (Long Jump, 14-00) who also placed 2nd in the Triple Jump with 29-06.00, Jocelyn Hempel (Triple Jump, 31-07.00) and all three relay teams. Second place finishers were Macey Payne (100m Dash 13.71, 200m Dash 29.30), Rebecca Logan (100m Hurdles, 21.11), Kallie Gyurisin (400m Dash 1:07.07), Emma Woshner (800m run, 2:42.93), Hallie Lescalleet (3200m run, 12:40.77), Abigail Hendershot (Discus 87-09 & Shot Put 30-11.50). Several athletes placed 3rd, Autumn Van Bremen in the 100m Hurdles, Rebecca Logan in the 300m Hurdles, Ryan Oliver in the 3200m run, Ainsley Lescallet in Discus, Jocelyn Hempel in the Long Jump, and MacKenzie Sine in Shot Put.
The Boys Track and Field team won first place against Kettle Run and Liberty with a total of 67 points. Our first place finishers were Andrew Link (100m dash, 11.84) as well as placing 2nd in the 400m dash (52.89), Logan McKay (300 Hurdles, 44.42), Lawrence Gittrich (3200m run, 11:55.46), Nolan Cornwell (Triple Jump 37-03.00) and our boys 4x400m relay with William Andrews, Landon Burdock, Casey Floyd and Logan McKay. Second place finishers were Zachary Smith (200m Dash, 24.08), Brendan Cassidy (High Jump, 5-06.00), Brandon Waters (Shot Put, 39-03.50), Ryan Babington (Triple Jump, 36-09.00). Our third place finishers were Zachary Smith in the 100m Dash, Karim Cisse in the 200m Dash, Landon Burdock in the 400m Dash, Will Simko in the 1600 meter dash, Ryan Babington in the High Jump, and Karim Cisse in the Long Jump. The boys 4x400mA relay team won 1st place and the 4x400m relay placed 2nd. The 4x100m relay team with Alex Hua, Robert Dwyer, Jayse Dailey, and Chase Lockley.

The James Wood Girl's Track and Field team won the Apple Blossom Invitational. Olivia Boyce placed in each of her events, 5th in long and triple jump, 8th in the 100m dash, and 2nd on the 4x1 relay team with Ella Kiesewalter, Macy Payne, and Alana Bradford. Aubrey Grove got 2nd place in the Discus and is top 10 in the state. She also got 2nd in the Shot Put. Ella Kiesewalter also placed 2nd in the 400m dash. We had several athletes receive 3rd place in their event; Questzali Angel-Perez in the 800m run, Lauren Beatty in the 1600m run, and Lillian Lovelace in the 100m Hurdles, Elena Farinholt in the 3200m run, the 4x400m Relay of Ella Kiesewalter, Kameron Strosnider, Ruby Ostrander, and Questzeli Angel-Perez. Other athletes that pulled in points for our team; Ruby Ostrander(4th,1600m), Lillian Lovelace(4th,300H),Alana Bradford(6th,LJ), Abigail Hendershot(7th,Shot), Kallie Gyrusin(8th,100H), and Sarah Moss (5th,3200m).

Tri Meet-Tied for 1st with Fauquier Fauquier/Handley/James Wood
Girl's Track and Field team results-
Aubrey Grove led the team by winning the Discus with a throw of 103-5 and the Shot Put with a 30-0.5. MacKenzie Sine placed second in Discus and Abigail Hendershot took third. Abigail Hendershot also placed second in Shot Put. Olivia Boyce won the triple jump,30-7.25. Lillian Lovelace won the 100H with 18.17 and placed second in the 800 meter run. She was also on the winning 4x400 meter relay team with Ella Kiesewalter, Megan Vreeland, and Omaie Aarami. Kameron Strosnider placed first in the 400 meter dash with 1:07.12, followed by Omaie Aarami placing third. Hallie Lescalleet ran the 3200 meter run with a winning time of 13:00.80. Ryan Oliver won the 1600 meter run with 6:05.16 and Kimberly Saupp placed second. Kallie Gyrusin placed second in the 300H. Ella Kiesewalter placed third in the 200 meter dash. Our 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of all seniors, Lauren Beatty, Aubrey Grove, Elena Farinholt, and Alana Bradford placed second.

The James Wood girls' Track and Field team put forth some great performances at the Handley Invitational, which had 34 teams competing. Lauren Beatty placed 5th in the 1600m run and qualified for States. Lillian Lovelace placed 5th in the 300m hurdles and 8th in the 100m hurdles. Aubrey Grove placed 5th in the Discus and 7th in the shot put. Isabella Newman placed 7th in the 3200m run. Our 4x400m relay of Lauren Beatty, Olivia Smith, Lillian Lovelace, and Ruby Ostrander finished up the meet with a 3rd place finish. The girls team ended 8th overall with a total of 30 points.

Ram Country Track & Field Invitational 2022
Girls Track Results
The James Wood Girls won the Ram Invitational. Despite the horrible weather, we had 11 PR's, 2 Regional qualifiers, and 1 State qualifier. Aubrey Grove won discus with a PR of 118' and qualified for States. Lillian Lovelace won the 100 Hurdles and placed 2nd in the 300 Hurdles. Quetzali Angel-Perez won the 800m, with Ruby Ostrander close behind taking 2nd. Jocelyn Hempel placed 2nd in triple jump. Our 4x100 relay team of Jocelyn Hempel, Olivia Boyce, Macy Payne, and Alana Bradford won. Alana Bradford qualified for Regionals in the long jump. Lauren Beatty place 2nd in the 3200 and qualified for regionals. The meet wrapped up with a win in the 4x400 relay of Ella Kiesewalter, Ruby Ostrander, Questzali Angel-Perez, and Kameron Strosnider.

The girls' team won the city/county meet against Sherando, Millbrook, and Handley. Our team is starting off the season with tremendous efforts. The team was led by newcomers Olivia Boyce (9) and Jocelyn Hempel (11). Jocelyn took 2nd in triple jump, 3rd in high jump, and was on the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. Olivia took 2nd in long jump, 3rd in triple jump, 2nd in the 100, and was on the 1st place 4x100 relay. The 4x100 relay team of Jocelyn, Olivia, Alana Bradford (12), and Macey Payne (11) qualified for regionals. Macey Payne also placed 2nd in the 200, 6th in the 100.
Alana Bradford placed 5th in long jump and 3rd in the 100. Aubrey Grove(12) placed 2nd in Discus and 3rd in the shot put. Lillian Lovelace(12) placed 2nd in the 100H,1st in the 300H and helped the 4x400 relay win. Ella Kiesewalter(10) placed 1st in the 400 and was also on the 1st place 4x400 relay. Jocelyn Kluge(10) placed 2nd in the 1600. Our 4x800 relay team of Lauren Beatty(12), Izzie Newman(12), Ruby Ostrander(9), and Questzeli Angel-Perez (11) also placed 1st.
