Meet Game Recap: The James Wood Swim Team kicked off their 2022-23 season with an exciting meet against district rival Kettle Run Saturday morning at Jim Barnett Park. The boys team defeated Kettle Run 95-66. The 400 Free Relay featuring Regan and Trent with the addition of Alex Hua and anchored by Andrew Thompson had a first place finish! While the 200 Free Relay of Ethan Britton, Gabriel Boone, Reagan Kite, Trent Rakowski finished second.
Outstanding Individual event finishes include -
Andrew Thompson with a pair of 1st place finishes in the 100 Fly and 100 Breast
Trent Rakowski had 1st in the 200 IM and 2nd in the 500 Free
Ethan Britton had a 1st place finish in the 50 Free and 2nd in the 100 Breast
Alex Hua a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 200 Free and 100 Fly
Michael Thompson a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 Back
Honorable mention goes to Reid Malony on his finishes in the 400 Free and 100 Breast
The girls team swim team had a good swim against Kettle Run but unfortunately came up a little short. However, all the girls should be proud of their efforts in Saturday's meet! The 200 Medley Relay finished 2nd and included - Samantha Krueger, Kallie Gyurisin, Annie Hua, and Ashlynn Stacy. In addition, the 200 Free Relay finished 2nd with Sophia Caruso, Kallie, Samantha, and Annie.

Kallie Gyurisin with a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 100 Fly 100 Breast
Annie Hua 2nd place finish in the 100 Free

Honorable mention for the girls goes to Abby Brown for finishing 3rd in the 400 Free which contributed to a Colonels sweep of the event!

District Tournament Game Recap: It was a very exciting night at the DISTRICT Championship at the WARF, the UNDEFEATED boys team “swam away” as DISTRICT CHAMPIONS! The boys team scored 146 total points beating last year's champion Kettle Run by 16 points! The girls team had a good night and finished 3rd in the district overall behind Kettle Run and Sherando.

To start off the meet the boys 200 medley relay of Paul and Joe Warnagiris, Andrew Thomspon and Alex Hua pumped up the crowd with a first place finish! The 400 Free Relay also had an equally exciting first place finish, the team consisting of the same members and the addition of Trent Rakowski will get a chance to prove themselves as one of the top relays in the State next Friday!
Individual top medalists for the boys included:
Paul Warnagiris 1st place in the 200 IM and 100 Breast
Andrew Thomspon 2nd in the 100 Butterfly and 4th in the 200 Free
Joe Warnagiris 1st place in the 100 Backstroke and 3rd in the 200 IM

The girls had an equally exciting day with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay! Congratulations to Leah Snapp, Paige Simko, Lauren Masters, and Annie Hua. The 200 Free relay with the addition of Kallie Gyurisin had a 4th place finish and a state qualifying time.
