JWHS Swim Team at the Class 4 Championship



The girls team finished their 2021-2022 season 10th in the state. Lauren Masters had a pair of second place finishes in the 50 and 100 Freestyle events. Paige Simko finished 4th in the 100 breaststroke and 8th in the 200 individual medley. The 200 Medley Relay with Leah Snapp, Paige, Lauren, and anchored by Annie Hua finished 9th, while the 200 Free Relay with Annie, Paige, Kallie Gyurisin, and anchored by Lauren finished 11th!
The boys team finished their season 13th place out of a field of 32 teams. Paul Warnagiris had a pair of 7th place finishes in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke. Andrew Thompson finished 15th in the 100 butterfly and 20th 200 Free! Joe Warnagiris finished 6th in the 100 back and 17th in the 200 IM The boys 200 Medley Relay with Joe, Paul, Andrew, and anchored by Alex Hua finished 10th. The boys 400 Free Relay with Andrew, Trent, Joe and Paul finished 11th, while the boys 200 Free Relay with Reagan Kite, Ethan Britton, Trent, and Alex finished 20th.

POSTED FEBRUARY 14, 2022- Congratulations to the James Wood Swim Team! It was an exciting day at the Regional Swim Championship on Saturday afternoon. The boys team finished second overall, and the girls team finished 3rd!
To start off the meet the boys 200 medley relay of Paul and Joe Warnagiris, Andrew Thomspon and Alex Hua pumped up the crowd with a first place finish! The 400 Free Relay also had an equally exciting first place finish, the team consisting of the same members and the addition of Trent Rakowski will get a chance to prove themselves as one of the top relays in the State next Friday!
Individual top medalists for the boys included:
Paul Warnagiris 1st place in the 200 IM and 100 Breast
Andrew Thomspon 2nd in the 100 Butterfly and 4th in the 200 Free
Joe Warnagiris 1st place in the 100 Backstroke and 3rd in the 200 IM
Special acknowledgements to Trent RakowskiReagan Kite, Ethan Britton, Alex Hua in their individual events which added to the 2nd place finish.
The girls had an equally exciting day with a 2nd place finish in the 200 Medley Relay! Congratulations to Leah Snapp, Paige Simko, Lauren Masters, and Annie Hua. The 200 Free relay with the addition of Kallie Gyurisin had a 4th place finish and a state qualifying time.

The Colonels Swim Team will have a chance to prove that they are one of the top teams in the state this Friday in Richmond! Good luck Swimmers!

The boys swim team placed second place overall and gave Kettle Run a “run for their money”. The 200 Medley relay of brothers Paul and Joe Warnagiris, Andrew Thompson, and Alex Hua stole first place from Kettle Run and had a state qualifying time! The 200 Free Relay of Trent Rakowski, Reagan Kite, Ethan Britton, and Alex Hua finished 2nd. The 400 Free Relay of the brothers Paul and Joe, Trent, and Andrew had a close 2nd place finish and another state qualifying time! Individually Paul finished first in the 200 IM/100 Breast, Joel finished first in the 500 Free/100 Back. Andrew had a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 200 Free/100 Fly. Additional Regional qualifiers are Trent in the 200 IM/100 Free, Reagan in the 50 Free/100 Free, Ethan Britton 50 Free/100 Back, and Alex in the 100 Fly/100 Breast. Special shoutouts to captains Ben Tanger and
Reid Malony on their performances Friday night.
The Colonels swim teams will be back in action Saturday afternoon at Claude Moore for the Region 4C Championships.

Swim Team - There will be a preseason swimmer/parent meeting this
Thursday, October 28th at 6:15pm in the auditorium for both returning and new swimmers. If you have any intention of joining the swim team, please attend this meeting.
