The James Wood Girls Soccer team improved to 7-0 (4-0 district) with a road win at Loudoun Valley Monday night.  After a 1-1 score line for the first half, the Lady Colonels opened the game up and won 5-2. Freshman Jolie Jenkins had the lone goal for the team in the first half and a goal and an assist in the second. Olivia Walker scored two goals and Sidney Rathel had a goal and an assist. Sloane Ferrebee added an assist as well. Goalkeeper Sami Stevens had her second assist for the season with a long-ball to Jenkins. She also had 11 saves on the night. 
   
The JV team dropped another close match at 0-3. Emma Abel had 6 saves.

The Colonels travel to Skyline Tuesday night.

The James Wood Girls Soccer Team continued their strong start to the season with a 7-2 win over cross-town rival Millbrook. Sidney Rathel and McKenna Newcome both had hat tricks. Jolie Jenkins added a goal as well.  Sloane Ferrebee had two assists on the night. Maddie Heustis and Maddie Shirley each had an assist. Rathel added an assist to her totals  Sami Stevens had 3 saves.

The JV team lost 4-1. Hailey Hall scored again, while Emma Abel had 7 saves in goal.

The James Wood Girls' Soccer team continued their early season success, defeating district rival Kettle Run 5-3 in an overtime thriller at Kettle Run Tuesday night.  Sidney Rathel scored her brace in the first five minute OT period to take the lead. McKenna Newcome scored her only goal of the night to assure the win in the second OT period. Newcome also assisted on three goals. Olivia Walker and Jolie Jenkins each had a goal during regulation.  Rathel and Grace Rivas had assists. Sami Stevens secured 5 saves in goal. The Lady Colonels look to improve on their 5-0 (3-0 district) record at Millbrook Thursday night.   

The JV girls team broke their win streak at Kettle run with a 6-0 loss. Jeslena Taylor logged 8 saves in goal.

The James Wood Girls' Varsity Soccer team improved to 4-0 (2-0 in the district) defeating Liberty Thursday night 13-1. Olivia Walker began the goal tally 4 minutes into the match with an unselfish pass inside the 18 from Jolie Jenkins.  Walker added 2 more goals later in the game.  Jenkins added a goal of her own and two more assists. Sidney Rathel topped the goal tallie with 4 and had an assist. Grace Rivas celebrated her birthday by scoring two goals. Senior Savannah Lewis scored her first varsity goal on her birthday as well. McKenna Newcome added to her stat totals with another goal and 4 assists in the match.  Lydia Watson scored a great goal off her free kick from 27 yards out late in the game.  Kelsey Gass, Maddie Shirley, and Sloane Ferrebee each had assists. Sami Stevens had 5 saves.
     
The JV girls ended their two game skid with a strong 4-0 victory over Liberty, with two penalty kick goals by Hailey Hall and Abby Dooley. Dooley added another goal and Sarah Roy smashed one home.

The James Wood Girls Soccer team continued their win streak and captured their first district win of the season against the Fauquier Falcons 7-1. Jolie Jenkins started quickly scoring 2 goals in the first four and a half minutes. McKenna Newcome added two more midway through the first half. Sidney Rathel scored in the 25th minute off a beautiful free kick from Olivia Walker. Olivia assisted EVERY goal in the first half! She also added two goals of her own in the second half of the match.  Jolie and Maddie Shirley gave her the assists.  Sami Stevens had 7 saves in goal.    Jeslena Taylor had 12 saves in the hard fought JV loss.  The Lady Colonels host Liberty on Thursday. 

POSTED MARCH 18, 2022
The James Wood Girls Soccer team won their second game of the season defeating Heritage 5-3. After giving up an early goal Captain Olivia Walker hit a screaming free kick from 20 yards in the 26th minute. 45 seconds later Walker delivered a beautiful ball to Jolie Jenkins who slid it past the goalkeeper. Just before half time Sloan Ferrebee slotted a ball to Jenkins who again buried it in the net.

Heritage got another early in the 2nd half to make it 3-2.  18 minutes later Senior Captain Sidney Rathel capitalized on a fantastic drop pass from Jenkins and took the Colonels 2 up. Heritage answered with a goal in the 34th minute. The Lady Colonels kept their composure and sank one more goal with 5 minutes to go.  McKenna Newcome found Jolie Jenkins who completed her hat trick and sealed the win. Sami Stevens had 2 saves in the victory.

The JV Girls team suffered their first loss of the season in a well fought match, falling 4-0. Hailey Hall registered another goal in the game and Jes Taylor balled out with 7 saves in the goal.

The girls' teams travel to Fauquier on Tuesday.

The James Wood Girls' soccer teams both opened up their seasons with victories over Skyline High School. Varsity Captain Olivia Walker started the 10-1 victory by scoring a goal in the first minute of play. She scored another goal later and had 1 assist. McKenna Newcome scored 3 for the night (including her first header goal) and had one assist.  Captain Sidney Rathel scored 2 goals and led with 4 assists for the match.  Freshman Jolie Jenkins opened up her high school debut with 3 goals as well. Lydia Watson, Madeline Heustis, and Nayah Edwards made it on the stat sheet with 1 assist each. Brooke Geary played strong defensively and helped goalkeeper Sami Stevens (4 Saves, 1 assist) limit the Hawks to just one goal.

The JV Lady Colonels posted a shutout and dropped 6 goals on Skyline. Hailey Hall scored a hat trick. Carrie Schneider bombed one from 40 yards out. Emma Abel and Abby Dooley also had goals.

The girls' teams host Heritage on Thursday.
