The James Wood varsity softball team battled back after falling behind in the first inning to defeat Williamsport 5-4. After a shaky first inning that included 2 throwing errors and 3 walks, leading to 4 runs for the Wildcats, Lani Spielman settled down to throw 5 shutout innings, allowing just 2 hits with 8 strikeouts. Lauren King pitched 2 shutout innings in relief for the save. Leading the Colonels at the plate were Courteney Harper who was 2-3 with 1 RBI, Lauren King who went 3-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs, and Emma Van Horn who was 2-2 with a walk and an RBI. Camryn Rizzari had a key RBI in the 1st inning.
The Colonels travel to Clarke County on Friday afternoon.
