James Wood Colonels JV baseball team scored six runs in the fifth on its way to a 9-1 victory over Spring Mills on Monday.  The big inning was thanks to a double by Hayden Cunningham, a double by Jackson Turner, a single by Lucas Whitacre, and a passed ball.

James Wood Colonels JV took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning.  In the third Gottholm induced Kevin Brown to ground out, but two runs scored and Hayden Cunningham hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.

Jacob Bell earned the win for James Wood Colonels JV, tossing  seven innings, allowing one run, three hits, and striking out five.  #3 took the loss for Spring Mills. He pitched  three innings, allowing six runs, and four hits.

Gottholm started the game for Spring Mills. He pitched  three innings, surrendering three runs, one hit, and striking out one.  Whitacre, Cunningham, Brown, Mason Lippold, and Turner each collected one hit to lead the Colonels.

The varsity team won its second straight with a 7-4 win in the nightcap.

The JV softball team picked up its first win of the season with a 10-9 win over the Cardinals. The varsity team followed with a 12-2 win in six innings to bring the team's record to 5-0.   Lani Spielman pitched the full game, striking out 10 and scattering five hits. Courteney Harper was 3-4 with a double, Lindsey Anderson was 3-4 with a double, home run, and 2 rbi, McKenzie McCarty was 3-4 with a double and 3 rbi. Rebecca Boone was 2-2 with an rbi.
