James Wood Colonels JV baseball team scored six runs in the fifth on its way to a 9-1 victory over Spring Mills on Monday. The big inning was thanks to a double by Hayden Cunningham, a double by Jackson Turner, a single by Lucas Whitacre, and a passed ball.
James Wood Colonels JV took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Gottholm induced Kevin Brown to ground out, but two runs scored and Hayden Cunningham hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run.

The JV softball team picked up its first win of the season with a 10-9 win over the Cardinals. The varsity team followed with a 12-2 win in six innings to bring the team's record to 5-0. Lani Spielman pitched the full game, striking out 10 and scattering five hits. Courteney Harper was 3-4 with a double, Lindsey Anderson was 3-4 with a double, home run, and 2 rbi, McKenzie McCarty was 3-4 with a double and 3 rbi. Rebecca Boone was 2-2 with an rbi.
