The James Wood JV baseball team took the lead for good in the second inning to capture a back-and-forth game from Hampshire by an 8-6 score on Saturday. James Wood Colonels JV trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the second inning when Steadman Green doubled, driving in two runs.
Both offenses were strong at the plate as James Wood Colonels JV collected five hits and Hampshire four. Garrett Florence started the game for James Wood Colonels JV. He went one-third of an inning, giving up three runs, two hits, striking out one, and walking zero. Jacob Bell came on in relief and earned the win for the Colonels JV, throwing four and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs, two hits, and striking out 11.
Hampshire took the the lead in the first inning when an error scored two runs for Hampshire.
Daniel Copenhaver, Steadman Green, Bell, Hayden Cunningham, and Kevin Brown all had one hit to lead James Wood.

The varsity team scored three runs late in the game to pull away for a 4-1 win. The win brings the varsity team's record to 4-4.
