James Wood varsity softball beat Handley 15-2 in 5 innings. Lani Spielman pitched all 5 innings, striking out 11. Courteney Harper was 4-4 with a double, 2 triples and 4 RBIs. Alyssa Brown and Lani Spielman (double) were both 3-4 with 2 RBI. Afton Sykes was 3-3 with a triple and 2 RBI. The team finished the regular season with a record of 17-3. They will have a first-round bye in the Conference 21 West tournament which begins on Wednesday, and will host the winner of the Sherando-Handley game on Friday at 6:00 PM, weather permitting.
The JV softball team wrapped up its season with a 20-11 win at Handley. The team finished with a record of 7-10.
The varsity boys' soccer team defeated Handley 2-1 on the road. This was the first time in school history that either soccer team defeated Handley two times in the same season. The team will travel to Millbrook on Wednesday in the first round of the conference tournament with match time at 6:00 PM.
The varsity girls' soccer team fell to Handley, 1-0, and finished the season as the #4 seed in the conference. They will host Millbrook on Wednesday at 6:00 PM. The JV girls' soccer team lost 2-0.
The boys' tennis team won its first round conference match over Harrisonburg, 5-2, while the girls' team defeated Woodgrove by the same score. The boys travel to Handley for a 2:00 semifinal on Tuesday, while the girls travel to Sherando with a 3:45 start. The championship round will be held on Wednesday at the remaining high seed.
Varsity and JV baseball both won their final games of the regular season at Handley. The varsity baseball team will face Millbrook in the conference quarterfinals on Wednesday with start time at 6:00 PM at Millbrook High School. The JV team won its season finale 13-3.
