James Wood High School has named Ryan Morgan its new varsity football coach. Morgan has been coaching football at James Wood since 2008, including a total of six years as the head coach of the JV football team. He succeeds Mark McHale, a James Wood Hall of Fame inductee, who announced his resignation last month after leading the Colonels football program for the past four years.
 

Morgan says, “I’m excited and grateful to be named the head football coach at James Wood High School. I’m looking forward to working with the players, staff and parents in order to build a highly successful program. I also would like to thank Coach Mike Bolin and Coach Mark McHale for the years they have devoted to developing student-athletes through the football program at James Wood.”
 

James Wood High School Coordinator of Student Activities Craig Woshner says, “Coach Morgan has worked hard to improve the success of our JV football team over the past several seasons, and we felt he was the best person to lead our varsity program moving forward. With the help of an excellent staff of assistant coaches, we are optimistic that Coach Morgan can help carry the success he’s enjoyed with our JV team over to the varsity program.”
 

Morgan is a native of Monroe, Michigan, and has been an English teacher at James Wood High School since 2007. He led James Wood High School’s JV football team to an undefeated 9-0 record in 2016.
