The VHSL 4A State Track & Field Championships were held on Friday and Saturday at James Madison University, and several James Wood athletes had outstanding performances.
Freshman Kenzie Konyar placed 8th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:29.59. That time also places Konyar second on the all-time James Wood list in that event.
Hannah Cavanagh finished as the 4A State Runner-Up in the discus.
Chris Vitagliano placed 6th in the long jump.
Rene Rosso earned All-State honors in all 5 of her events. Rene placed 3rd in the triple jump with a new school record of 37'8". She placed 4th in the 100 meter high hurdles, 6th in the high jump, 6th in the long jump, and 5th in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles with a new school record of :46.75.
