The James Wood Athletic Association held its annual awards banquet on Monday night at the Lee-Jackson Banquet Room. MVPs in all sports were recognized for their achievements during the 2016-17 school year, scholarships were presented to seniors, and special awards were presented to retiring principal Joe Salyer, who was recognized with the annual Most School Spirited Award and the JWAA Service Award. The JWAA also donated $32,000 to the athletic department to help purchase uniforms, equipment, and facility items to support James Wood student-athletes.
