On Thursday, two James Wood senior student-athletes will officially sign letters of intent to continue playing their respective sports at the college level.
Morgan Biggs will sign with Division III Dickinson College in Pennsylvania to play volleyball for the Red Devils. Morgan is the daughter of Bryan and Karen Biggs. She has played volleyball at Wood all four years, including three on the varsity level. Some of her athletic honors include All-District 2nd Team, All-Area 2nd Team, All-Conference 2nd Team, and Northwestern District All-Academic. She finished the 2017 season with 144 kills, 44 aces, and 66 blocks. She has also played travel volleyball with Dulles Volleyball and Blue Ridge Volleyball Association. Her other activities include Health Occupation Students of America, National Honors Society, Varsity Club, and Peer Tutoring. She has volunteered at ASPCA, Bright Futures, Salvation Army, and at the Highland Food Pantry. She holds a 4.06 GPA. Morgan plans to major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Kevin Konyar will sign with Division II Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania to continue running cross country and track for the Huskies. Kevin is the son of Chris and Stacy Konyar. He was the top runner for the Colonels in the majority of meets in the 2017 cross country season, and he placed 4th in the Northwestern District Championship to advance to the 4A-C Region meet. His personal best in cross country is 16:28 for 5000 meters at the Third Battle Invitational. He has PRs of 10:20 for the 3200 meters and 5:00 for the 1600 meters in track. He is a member of National Honor Society and played JV basketball as a sophomore, and he has also volunteered with Frederick County Parks and Recreation. He holds a 3.87 GPA. Kevin plans to major in Exercise Science.
