The boys’ and girls’ indoor track teams competed last Friday in the Northwestern District Championship at Hagerstown Community College. Both teams finished 5th overall.
Rene Rosso led the girls with first place finishes in the long jump, triple jump, and 55 meter hurdles, 2nd place finishes in the high jump and 55 meter dash, and a third place finish in the 300 meter dash. Other notable girls performances were Brooke Sandy with a 5th place finish and state-qualifying jump in the high jump, Kiara Gilkerson with a 5th place in the 500 meter run, and the team of Lauren Taylor, Mia Johnson, Kiara Gilkerson, and Eliana Creech with a 2nd place finish in the 4 by 400 meter relay.
Notable performances on the boys’ team were Logan Owens with a 4th place in the triple jump and a 5th place in the 55 meter hurdles, Drake Tews with a 2nd place in the high jump, Dominic Revetta with a 3rd place in the shot put, Tyler Ostinato with a 6th in the 500 meter dash, Jackson Clyburn with a 6th place in the 55 meter dash, Joseph Spielman with a 6th place in the triple jump, and the team of Tyler Ostinato, Bryce Ratlief, Nathan Shade, and Jacksen Costa with a 2nd place in the 3200 meter relay.
These athletes will compete this Friday at the Region 4C Championship, also to be held at Hagerstown Community College, with events starting at 3:45 PM.
