The James Wood varsity baseball team beat Skyline last night on the road, 7-5. Mitch Craig led the team with four solid innings starting on the mound. Jacob Bell and Aden Payne closed out the game to help the Colonels get the win. Trent Campbell and Brett Baker led the team at the plate with two hits each. The Colonels are scheduled to play at Sherando tomorrow night with the JVs starting at 4:00 and the varsity at 7:00 PM.
In softball, Skyline beat James Wood 5-2. Lani Spielman started and pitched 4 innings giving up only 1 run. Leading 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th inning, Ivy Rosenberry came in relief but the Colonels made 3 costly errors that proved to be the difference in the game. Leading the Colonels at the plate was Ivy Rosenberry who went 1-3 with a double, Rebecca Boone who was 1-3 with a double, and Olivia Miller who went 2-3. The Colonels' overall record dropped to 4-1 on the season.
