James Wood High School Volleyball Coach Resigns
James Wood High School Varsity Volleyball Coach P.W. Hillyard has resigned after leading the Lady Colonels for the past three years. Hillyard, who began coaching James Wood’s varsity volleyball team in 2016, was the coach of the school’s junior varsity volleyball team for two seasons before assuming the same role with the varsity squad. James Wood High School Coordinator of Student Activities Craig Woshner says, “Coach Hillyard did an outstanding job as soon as he took over the program in 2016, leading the team to the state tournament in a highly competitive region. As a James Wood Hall of Fame athlete himself, Coach Hillyard has always challenged his teams to give their best effort on the floor and in the classroom. I am grateful for the dedication and effort he has given to the program." Hillyard’s teams accumulated a record of 53-22. In 2016, the team was the Region 4A West runner-up and advanced to the Group 4A state tournament. The search for James Wood High School’s next volleyball coach will begin soon.
