James Wood seniors Luke Roy and Treyven Mandel will sign to continue playing football at the college level on Wednesday.
Luke Roy will sign with Frostburg State, MD. Luke was on the Winchester Star's All-Area Second Team as an offensive lineman and defensive lineman. He was also All-Northwestern District Second Team on the defensive line. A four-year varsity player, he finished his senior year with 45 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 blocked kicks, 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown, and 2 pass breakups. He has also participated in wrestling all four years.
Treyven Mandel will sign with Shenandoah University in Winchester. Treyven was on the Winchester Star's All-Area Second Team Defense as a defensive back, as well as Honorable Mention as a wide receiver. He was also All-Northwestern District Second Team at defensive back. On offense as a senior, he caught 13 passes for 313 yards (24.1 yards per catch) and 5 touchdowns. On defense, he made 54 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 4 interceptions (returned for 68 yards), 12 pass breakups, and 1 fumble recovery.
