The boys varsity soccer team finished out their strong regular season with a 2-0 win over Fauquier. Jon Davet And Wesley Walker had goals, and Chris Garcia and Erick Nolasco had assists. Jonathan Resendiz had 3 saves and his 6th shutout in his last 9 games. The Colonels conclude the regular season 10-5-1 (6-5-1). They play their playoff game on Friday with the opponent and site to be determined.
Both the JV and varsity girls' soccer teams ended their regular seasons with wins against Fauquier last night. The JV girls posted another shutout 2-0 victory. Sami Stevens and the defense had the 7th blank sheet of the season. Addy Gloid and Kendall Creswell found the back of the net for the goals. They finished with an impressive record of 10-2-3.
The varsity team capped off their regular season and Senior Night with a dominant 8-0 victory. Claire Beccaccio recorded her 2nd shutout of the season (team’s record 10th) with 6 saves. Katie Padgett had a hat trick and 2 assists. Maddy “Milly” Milburn had 2 goals, Abby Ensogna had a goal and assist, and Sidney Rathel and Kaylah Gankiewicz added a goal each. Maddy Myers had 2 assists. Hannah Given and Olivia Walker had 2 each. The Lady Colonels broke the single season record for most wins with 12. The team will host a first-round district playoff game on Friday.
The varsity baseball team ended its regular season being shutout for the first time all year to the Fauquier Falcons, losing 3-0. Aden Payne pitch four solid innings with Jacob Bell and Luke Gross finishing the game. The Colonels were held to only three hits on the night, coming from Kaden Spaid, Hayden Cunningham, and Tylor McBride. The Colonels will travel to either Fauquier or Kettle Run on Friday to start the district tournament. The JV baseball team lost both ends of a home double-header to the Falcon to conclude its season.
