The Virginia High School League released its Class 4A all-state softball and girls' soccer teams today, and two Colonels earned recognition. Junior pitcher Ivy Rosenberry was a first-team selection, while senior forward Katie Padgett was a second-team selection.
In soccer, sixteen players are chosen on the first-team and 16 players are selected for the second-team. The team is made up with five (5) forwards; five (5) midfielders; five (5) defenders, and one (1) goalkeeper. In softball, fourteen individuals each are selected to the first-team all-state squad and second-team all-state squad that include three pitchers, one catcher, four infielders, one flex, four outfielders, and one utility player. Only those players selected to the first-team all-region teams are eligible for selection to the All-State team.
You can find the full all-state teams on the VHSL website, vhsl.org, under the respective sport information pages.
