The boys' and girls' cross country teams competed on Saturday in the Class 4A State Cross Country Championship at Great Meadow in The Plains, VA. The girls finished 4th and the boys finished 10th. Kenzie Konyar was the top finisher for the girls and the only all-state athlete from both teams with an 11th place finish. Nathaniel Woshner was the top finisher for the boys in 32nd place.
This is the first time that both teams advanced to the state championship since 1980, when the boys finished 10th and the girls finished 6th. This year's girls team has the highest finish ever for any girls team with their 4th place finish. Prior to this year, the best placement was 6th, both in 1980 and in 1986 (the last time the girls advanced as a team to the state championship).
