The James Wood boys' basketball team won their their third straight game by defeating Kettle Run 30-23. Leading the Colonels was Lavaughan Freeman with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Tyrome McCarthy had 6 points and Ethan Russell scored 2 points while pulling down 7 rebounds and 4 charges taken. The Colonels improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the district.
The JV boys' team won their second straight game by a score of 47-35. Cole Stowers led the Colonels with 15 points, while Jacob Roy and Blake Corbin had 8 points each. Bodie Pullen added 7 in the winning effort.
The Lady Colonels got their 5th win of the season by beating Kettle Run, 58-19. Makayla Firebaugh once again led the way with a game- high 26 points. Jenny Kerns added 9 points and Emma Bursey chipped in 8 points. The JV girls defeated the Cougars 40-17.
The varsity boys and girls are back in action next week when they host the 2nd Annual Holiday Tournament on December 27 and 28. Games begin at 1:00 PM on Friday and 11:00 AM on Saturday.
