The James Wood boys' basketball team got back on the winning track with a 55-40 road win over Liberty. Leading the Colonels in scoring was Jaden Ashby, Lavaughan Freeman and Ethan Russell all with 14 points. The Colonels are 12-8 overall and 7-5 in the district. They will host the Eagles on Thursday and then wrap up the regular season at home on Friday against Millbrook. The Northwestern District tournament begins with the quarterfinal round on February 13.
The varsity girls defeated Liberty at home, 80-40. The Lady Colonels were led again by Makayla Firebaugh who poured in 39 points. Brenna Prunty put in 16 points and Brynna Nesselrodt added 9 points. Brooklyn Crate scored 7 points in her return from a concussion. The girls are back in action Thursday when they travel to Liberty.
