James Wood seniors Grace Friggard and Alyssah McGuire will sign their NCAA Letters of Intent on January 27 at 6:00 PM in the auditorium.

Grace has committed to and will be signing with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to play both indoor and beach volleyball. She plans to major in Sociology with future aspirations of working for the CIA as an Operations Officer. Grace is a 4 year Varsity athlete at James Wood. Her most recent accomplishments are being a member of the 2019 district championship team and being named on the 2019 All district, All region and All area teams. She was also nominated and selected for the 2020 Under Armour All American All Region team. Grace states that she is “excited about playing under such genuine and passionate coaches in Chattanooga invested in building a culture of mission first, family always.”

Alyssah has committed to and will be signing with Washington and Lee University to play volleyball. She plans to double major in Business Administration and Cognitive Behavioral Science. Alyssah is a 2 year Varsity Athlete and her most recent accomplishments are being a member of the 2019 district championship team and team captain. Alyssah is looking forward to building new lifelong bonds through team connections and a common call. She states, “The continued competition and competitive atmosphere will be a great motivational factor. I am honored to be attending such a prestigious school that can give me the perfect balance of academics, social and great athletics.”
