The varsity softball team defeated Millbrook 7-3 on Thursday night to wrap up the regular season. Jenna Burkhamer started and threw 4 1/3 innings with 5 Ks. Ellie Johnson came in relief and threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings with 3 Ks. Leading the Colonels at the plate was Sadie Kittoe who went 3-4 with a double and an RBI, Olivia Miller was 1-4 with 2 RBIs, and Skyla Compton was 1-2 with a walk, RBI, and 2 runs scored. Cadence Rieg was 1-3 with a triple, walk, and 2 runs scored, and Laken Whipkey was 1-4 with an RBI. The Colonels finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and will play Handley next Tuesday in the NWD tournament.
Varsity baseball upended previously unbeaten Millbrook with a 3-2 road win. Kaden Spaid improved to 5-0 on the mound, going 5.1 innings, giving up 3 hits, 2 runs, and tossing 4 strikeouts. Colin McGuire went the final 1.2 innings to record the save, allowing 2 hits and striking out 4. Jayden Nixon was 1-3 with 2 runs and one RBI, Spaid and Luke Gross were both 1-3, and Aden Payne had1 RBI.
In the West Pod quarterfinal round, #2 Wood will host #3 Sherando on Tuesday at 6:00 PM.
The boys' soccer team finished the regular season yesterday with a dominant 8-2 win over Millbrook to finish the regular season a perfect 10-0. Leading the Colonels was Seth Hammond with his third hat trick of the season and Chris Garcia with 2 goals. Micah Frigaard (first career goal), Tristan Obert, and Connor Ballentine all had one goal and one assist and Brandon Dunn had 3 saves. The Colonels host Handley in the district playoff quarterfinals next Tuesday at 5:00 PM. The JV team lost to Millbrook 2-0 last night. Ben Tanger had 5 saves and the JV team finished the year with an outstanding record of 5-1-4.
