Varsity boys' soccer team tied Fauquier 0-0. Ben Tanger had 3 saves and the Colonels outshot Fauquier 20-3, but just couldn’t break through with a goal. The Colonels are 2-0-1 on season. The JV team had a hard earned win over Fauquier 3-1. Tristan Escalona, Jesse Rojas and Brandon Andrade had goals for the Colonels. Zach Myers had 1 save and the Colonels are 2-1 on the season.
The girls' soccer team continued their win streak and captured their first district win of the season against the Fauquier Falcons, 7-1. Jolie Jenkins started quickly scoring 2 goals in the first four and a half minutes. McKenna Newcome added two more midway through the first half. Sidney Rathel scored in the 25th minute off a beautiful free kick from Olivia Walker. Olivia assisted EVERY goal in the first half! She also added two goals of her own in the second half of the match. Jolie and Maddie Shirley gave her the assists. Sami Stevens had 7 saves in goal. Jeslena Taylor had 12 saves in the hard fought JV loss. The Lady Colonels host Liberty on Thursday.
Fauquier beat James Wood 11-10 in varsity softball in a tough battle. Cadence Rieg started and went 3 1/3 innings with 5 strikeouts. Laken Whipkey pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and Ellie Johnson pitched 2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts. At the plate, the Colonels were led by Syd Orndorff 3-4 with a HR and 3 RBIs, Ellie Johnson who was 1-3 with a double, walk, and 3 RBIs, and Laken Whipkey who went 1-4 with a HR and 2 RBIs. Skyla Compton was 2-3, Sadie Kittoe 1-4 RBI, and Izzy Mckee added a double with a RBI.
Varsity baseball lost to Fauquier on Tuesday, 6-0.
The Colonels were led offensively by Jacob Roy and Jared Neal who both went 2-3 and Kemper Omps who had a single. The Daniel Franceshi threw 1.2 no-hit innings in relief, and Nick Bell threw 3.0 innings, giving up 2 hits but 0 runs. The Colonels travel to Liberty on Thursday.
JV baseball improved to 3-0 with its 5-1 road win against Fauquier. Bradley Kimble had a stellar game on the mound, throwing 4 2/3 innings with 12 strikeouts and 1 run. Deuce Strosnider had the save, adding 2 hits. Tyler Walter had a hit and sacrifice fly to score a run, while Cade Cornwell drew 4 walks.
