The James Wood Mens' Soccer team stayed unbeaten on the season with a decisive 4-0 win over previously unbeaten Liberty Eagles. Scoring goals were freshman Owen Swiger with the game winner, sophomore Chris Viera, and seniors Ryan King and Jon Resendiz. Dashawn Paige (2), Brayan Lopez-Romero and Edgar Del Moral all had assists. Ben Tanger earned his 3rd shutout of the season in goal. The Colonels are 3-0-1 on the season.
The JV team lost 3-0 to the Eagles. Zach Myers had 5 saves and JV is 2-2.
The James Wood Girls' Varsity Soccer team improved to 4-0 (2-0 in the district) defeating Liberty Thursday night 13-1. Olivia Walker began the goal tally 4 minutes into the match with an unselfish pass inside the 18 from Jolie Jenkins. Walker added 2 more goals later in the game. Jenkins added a goal of her own and two more assists. Sidney Rathel topped the goal talley with 4 and had an assist. Grace Rivas celebrated her birthday by scoring two goals. Senior Savannah Lewis scored her first varsity goal on her birthday as well. McKenna Newcome added to her stat totals with another goal and 4 assists in the match. Lydia Watson scored a great goal off her free kick from 27 yards out late in the game. Kelsey Gass, Maddie Shirley, and Sloane Ferrebee each had assists. Sami Stevens had 5 saves.
The JV girls ended their two game skid with a strong 4-0 victory over Liberty, with two penalty kick goals by Hailey Hall and Abby Dooley. Dooley added another goal and Sarah Roy smashed one home.
