Kettle Run beat James Wood in varsity softball on Tuesday, 4-3. Cadence Rieg started and pitched 1 1/3 innings total. Laken Whipkey pitched 4 & 2/3 innings in relief. Cadence Rieg was 3-4 with 2 RBIs, Caity Shutts was 1-3 with a walk, and Laken Whipkey was 1-3. Aliza Judd was 1-3 and Izzy Mckee was 1-4. The Colonels host Handley on Thursday for Senior Night.
Varsity girls' soccer defeated Kettle Run 4-1 in their last home game of the regular season. Sami Stevens came up with 8 big saves on the night. Captain Olivia Walker opened up the scoring in the 11th minute with a great pass from Captain Sidney Rathel. Jolie Jenkins scored with an assist from Grace Zelaya Rivas 20 minutes later. McKenna Newcome slotted a ball to Sidney 3 minutes into the second half for the third goal. Olivia finished up the night with a 25 yard banger after getting a beautiful ball from Sloane Ferrebee. The Lady Colonels, 14-0 on the season, head to Handley Thursday to try and clinch the regular season title and a berth to the Regional tourney.
The varsity baseball team defeated Kettle Run 9-0 to move into 2nd place in the District. Colin McGuire pitched a complete game shutout, allowing 4 hits, walking 2, and striking out 5. At the plate, the Colonels were led by Jacob Roy who went 2-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI, stolen base. Eli Miller 2-4, 2 runs, 3 RBI, stolen base. Bodie Pullen 1-2, triple, run, RBI, 3 stolen bases, and he ties the single season stolen base record at 25. Colin McGuire, Brody Bower, and John Copenhaver each added 1 hit to the offensive attack. Wood is now 12-4 and will be at home on Thursday against Handley.
The boys' soccer team defeated Kettle Run 1-0. Sam Frigaard had the game winner in the 15th minute assisted by Ryan King. Shots were 14-5 in favor of James Wood. Ben Tanger had 3 saves and his 7th shutout of the season. The JV team also defeated Kettle Run 2-0. Jacob Oliver and Josh Nieman had goals. Ian Longo had both assists. Zach Myers and Sam Sherman combine for shutout. The Colonels host Handley on Thursday, our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Night! Come out and support the boys!
