James Wood softball beat Kettle Run 18-3 in 5 innings. Kati Brannon started and threw 3 innings striking out 7. Emma Hild threw 2 innings in relief with 3 strikeouts. At the plate the Colonels were led by Brynnen Williams who was 4-4 and hit 2 HRs including a grand slam and also hit a 3 run bomb which gave her 7 RBIs on the night. Sophia Gerald was 2-4 with 2 RBIs, Kayleigh Harden was 2-4 with a double and RBI, and Aubrey Nail was 1-2 with 2 RBIs. Emma Hild was 1-1 with a walk, Julia Rheinberger was 1-2, and Aliza Judd added a RBI single. Kati Brannon and Molly Maynard were each 1-2 with 2 walks. The Colonels travel to Liberty next Tuesday.
The varsity girls soccer team followed up their 8-0 win against Skyline on Monday with another victory over Liberty High School on Wednesday, winning the game 4-0. Their record improves to 4-0 (2-0 in the region). Maddie Shirley scored a hat trick in the game. Avery Wright had a beautiful goal off her free kick. Kierny Prunty, Karlie Orndorff, and Aubrie Darnall had the assists. Alaynah McGuire had three saves on the night. She and the defense recorded their fourth straight shutout, and have not allowed a goal yet this season. The Lady Colonels host Clarke County on Friday.
The JV team got their first win of the season, beating Liberty 3-0. Calleigh DeLuca, Becca Viera, and Tori Clyburn scored in the game. Avery Wright (freshman) had four saves in the shutout.
Both boys' soccer teams were on the road at Liberty High School. JV battled in a tight game and were able to come out with a 1-1 tie. Varsity battled a new looking Eagle team and were able to come back from a 1 goal deficit to tie the game and head into overtime 1-1. Daylin Paige scored with an assist by Tristan Escalona. Overtime ended 1-1.
Both varsity and JV baseball lost games against the Kettle Run Cougars. Varsity fell 7-1 at home.
