The swim teams competed in the Regional Championships held at JMU on Saturday, February 11. Keeyan McDonald swam a season best in the 200-freestyle with a 2:07.16 and finished 23rd. David Dorsey finished 21st in the same event in 2:01.47. Dorsey also swam in the 500-freestyle and placed 22nd in 5:36.63. Hannah Cavanagh swam a season best in the 200-freestyle with a 2:09.65 and placed 15th. She also swam a season best in the 500-freestyle with a 5:53.65 and placed 15th. Daniel Woodrum swam 2:34.24 in the 200 IM and placed 23rd. Schopick also swam in this event and placed 21st in 2:28.83. Her regional swim in the 100-butterfly placed her 14th, but she will advance to the state meet on February 17 by virtue of her qualifying time of 1:01.93 from the Conference Championship. Taylin Crosen also swam in the 100-butterfly and finished 28th in a season-best time of 1:10.26. Lydia Sunderlin competed in the 50 and 100-freestyle events finishing 21st (27.74) and 25th (1:00.76), respectively. Brian Hua competed in the 100-butterfly (14th- 57.29) and the 100-breaststroke (19th- 1:09.27- season-best). He also swam the anchor leg on the boys 400-freestyle relay with Dorsey, McDonald, and Woodrum. The quartet placed 12th in a season-best time of 3:41.73. Abby Fergus competed in the 100-breaststroke and finished 24th (1:20.08). State qualification is based on a top-10 individual or top-8 relay finish and/or achieving a state qualifying time standard.
