The varsity baseball team competed in the Border Wars baseball tournament over spring break and came away with two wins--both occurring in dramatic fashion. The Colonels coughed up a 9-run lead in their first game on Wednesday against Heritage, allowing the Pride to score 10 runs in one inning, all of them coming with two outs. Wood was able to rebound for a 13-11 wild win.
In game two against Musselman on Thursday, the Colonels were unable to put runners in scoring position across the plate in four consecutive innings, with three of those innings ending with base running mistakes. Pitching and defense kept the game close until the 6th, when Musselman scored two runs to pull ahead 3-1. Wood countered with two runs in the bottom half, and then scored two in the 7th to seal the walk-off win.
