The James Wood Girls Tennis team won against Kettle Run 8-1 last night, improving to 5-4 on the season. Individual match results were:

Girls Soccer improved to 7-3-2 this season with a 10-0 win over Manassas Park Tuesday night. Mary Kimble (1 goal/1 assist) opened up the scoring one minute into the match with a great goal after receiving a pass from DeLaney Newcome. Maddie Shirley had a hat trick. Ella Watson, Stephanie Andrade Barco, Aubrie Darnall each added a goal. Meadow Faulkner had 2 goals and one assist (her firsts of the season). Senior Eva DeMattei got on the score sheet for the first time this season as well with 1 goal and 2 assists. Kierny Prunty and Avery Wright had 2 assists each. Alaynah McGuire added an assist too. Freshman Avery Wright made 3 saves in the shutout match for her Varsity debut. The Lady Colonels travel to Liberty on Wednesday.
The varsity softball team defeated Kettle Run 13-0 in 5 innings. Sophia Gerald was dominant in the circle pitching 4 innings with 12 strikeouts allowing only one hit. Kati Brannon threw a scoreless inning in relief with 3 strikeouts. The duo combined to record every out as a strikeout and allowed only 2 hits combined. Kati Brannon was 2-3 with 2 doubles, a walk, and a RBI, Molly Maynard was 2-3 with a walk and 3 RBIs, and Kayleigh Harden was 3-4 with a triple and 4 RBIs. Sophia Gerald was 2-3 with a RBI. Gabby Madagan, Aubrey Nail, and Adilynn Ellison were each 1-2. The Colonels host Strasburg tomorrow night.
JV boys soccer fell to Manassas Park 1-0, and varsity soccer also lost, 4-2. Colonels goals came from Daylin Paige and Brayden Pineda.
The James Wood JV Colonels earned another impressive win on Tuesday, defeating Skyline 5-0 behind a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate from Karly Easterday, who also drove in two runs. Maggie Maynard was dominant in the circle, pitching five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts, and Taylor Fishel slammed the door with two more shutout innings and five strikeouts of her own. The Colonels totaled 11 hits in the game, with strong performances from Reece Madagan, Sophia Rohrbach, Maynard, and Easterday. Madagan also swiped two bases, adding to the team’s all-around effort.
JV baseball fell to Kettle Run, 6-2.
