Big Inning Powers James Wood JV Softball Past Strasburg! The James Wood JV Colonels took control with a six-run fourth inning to defeat Strasburg 11-3 on Wednesday! Karly Easterday launched a two-run home run, while Taylor Fishel, Marlee Gilbert, and Sophia Rohrbach each delivered clutch RBIs to fuel the rally. Taliah Sheppard kicked things off with an RBI single in the first, and Maggie Maynard dominated in relief, throwing four shutout innings with seven strikeouts and allowing just one hit. The Colonels racked up 13 hits and ran wild on the basepaths with 11 stolen bases, including five from Maynard! Easterday led the team with three RBIs, while multiple players — including Maynard, Gilbert, and Marleigh Dehaven — had multi-hit games.
Varsity softball beat Strasburg 5-0. Sophia Gerald pitched a gem striking out 7 in a three hit shutout. Brynnen Williams was 2-4 with a double and RBI, Aliza Judd was 2-3 with a walk and a double, and Kayleigh Harden was 2-3 with a RBI. Kati Brannon was 1-2 with a double, walk, and RBI and Molly Maynard added 2 RBIs. The Colonels travel to Skyline on Thursday.

The James Wood Girls Soccer Team (8-3-2) got a 2-0 win at Liberty Wednesday night. Mary Kimble scored a header goal 6 minutes into the match off an Avery Wright corner kick. Maddie Shirley scored 25 minutes later after settling a pass from DeLaney Newcome. Alaynah McGuire had 4 saves as she and the defense secured the shutout. The JV girls won their second in a row. Calleigh DeLuca smashed a shot past the goalkeeper for the 1-0 victory. The Lady Colonels play their next match May 12th, hosting cross county rival Millbrook.
On Wednesday the Track and Field Team competed at the last county meet of the season at Millbrook. The girls team came in first place with 181 points and the boys team came in third with 92 points. Scoring performances below:
